5) How should I prepare for an EICR?

Be sure to have the following items ready for your EICR:

6) Things to do before the inspector arrives

Make sure there is access to the consumer unit (Fuse box). moving furniture and belongings out the way is a massive help to the inspector especially if the consumer unit is in a cupboard, under the stirs or high up where the inspector will need to put steps to get to it.

• Move furniture and belongings from in front of socket outlets and switching points so the inspector can have access to take the covers off the equipment.
• The inspector will Not be lifting floorboards or going into the loft to inspect cables
• The inspector will only go into the loft if specific equipment is located there like supplies to boilers are located there. (Please inform the inspector when he arrives if this is the case.)
